If the camera preview during the Audio and Visual Test is showing the wrong camera (or a blank camera), don’t worry — this usually means your computer has multiple cameras available and the browser selected the wrong one.
For example, your device may have:
A built-in laptop camera
An external webcam
A virtual camera from software like Zoom, Teams, or OBS
You can easily switch to the correct camera before starting your interview.
How to Select the Correct Camera
When you reach the Audio and Visual Test screen, select No if the camera preview is incorrect.
Click Select Hardware.
From the dropdown menu, choose the camera you want to use.
Click Next to continue.
Once selected, the preview should display the correct camera.
If You Still Don’t See the Correct Camera
Try the following steps:
1. Close other apps using your camera
Programs like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, or Google Meet can block the camera if they are open.
2. Restart your browser or computer
This refreshes your device’s camera connection.
3. Use a supported browser
For the best experience, use the latest version of:
Google Chrome
Microsoft Edge
Some features may not work properly in other browsers.
4. Check camera permissions
Mac
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
Make sure your browser (Chrome or Edge) is enabled
Windows
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
Make sure Camera access and Allow desktop apps to access your camera are turned on
