If you are experiencing difficulty while using another browser, our recommendation is to switch to either Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
For a Mac-based computer:
- If you are utilizing Google Chrome, open a new tab and input the web address 'chrome://settings/content'. Under the Flash heading, select ‘Allow sites to run Flash’. After doing this please close your Google Chrome browser with your keyboard using the keys “CMD+Q” to close the Google Chrome browser and then proceed to re-enter the interview. Please note that if there is a blue orb beneath the Google Chrome icon on the taskbar then you will need to Right-click with your mouse and select the appropriate selection to completely close Google Chrome.
- Click on the Apple Icon at the top left of the screen and go to system preferences. Once in there, go to the sound tab and click on it. Locate the "Input" tab at the top of the page and click on it. Locate the correct microphone you are using and make sure the volume is up (all the way to the right) and that it is not muted. In addition to this, we also advise that you turn off 'Use ambient noise reduction' in your input tab so that you do not face any audio issues when recording your interview.
- Lastly, you may be required to restart your computer after these changes as these settings may not apply immediately.
If the microphone is working properly within the hardware settings but still not in the microphone test itself, we then suggest switching web browsers to ensure it is not a browser configuration issue that is causing the error.
