If you experienced an issue where a digital interview question did not record properly, or the uploaded response had audio/video problems, this is most commonly caused by temporary browser, device, or internet performance issues during the recording process.
Common Causes
Recording issues may occur due to:
- unstable or fluctuating internet connection,
- multiple browser tabs or applications running in the background,
- temporary webcam or microphone processing delays,
- browser permission issues,
- high CPU or memory usage on the device,
- or interruptions during the upload process.
In some cases, the response may still upload successfully but portions of the audio or video may appear delayed, out of sync, frozen, or incomplete.
Tips to Help Prevent Recording Issues
Before starting your interview:
- Update your Operating System (OS) to the most updated version (Technical Requirements)
- Restart your computer
- Use the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (interviewstream Internet & Browser Requirements )
- Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs
- Pause streaming services, downloads, or gaming applications
- Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network or wired internet connection if possible
During the interview:
- Avoid switching between applications while recording
- Remain on the interview page until uploads fully complete
- Do not disconnect from Wi-Fi during the upload process
- If possible, use headphones with a built-in microphone
Additional Recommendations
- Clear Chrome cache and cookies before retrying
- Confirm camera and microphone permissions are enabled in Chrome
- Ensure Windows and device drivers are fully updated
